Sunday, February 24, 2019 There is no disputing that our area boasts an amazing array of local dining options offering creative cuisine and mouth-watering gastronomic fare. From burgers and brunch to sandwiches, seafood and steaks – there are so many choices that it’s hard to decide. Why not take a look at this year’s Readers’ Choice winners for a taste of your options?
Over the last decade Yoder’s Restaurant, a 20+-year Readers’ Choice winner for Amish Food (this year it won in Sarasota, Venice and Manatee) has grown. By adding ‘Amish Village’ to its name, Yoder’s is telling us that there is way more to enjoy now including a product market, deli market and gift shop. A family- run restaurant since 1975, Yoder’s achieved national fame when it was featured and lauded in season two of “Man vs. Food” by host Adam Richman.
Another winner for multiple years, in Manatee and Sarasota, is Tandoor Fine Indian Cuisine. The family- run Indian restaurant, local since 2001, was thrilled to win. Owner/chef Poonam Maini expressed her thanks on Facebook. “Wow! Thank you to all of our friends and family that voted us number one for the Readers’ Choice Award in Sarasota and Manatee! First place for best Indian Cuisine. Thanks to all of you! We hope to serve you delicious Indian cuisine for years to come while creating enjoyable moments while dining with us. We can not thank you enough.”
You may not know that three of the top winners of this year’s Readers’ Choice, in a bunch of Restaurant categories for Sarasota, are all under the same company umbrella. Maybe that explains why Duval’s Fresh. Local. Seafood, Element Modern Mediterranean and PBnT: Pizza Burgers. N Tacos. are all at the top of their foodie game.
All told, those three, tasty places have seven top awards and one finalist placing. The upscale, casual Duval’s won for All Around, Sandwich Shop (OMG those Po’ Boys), and Seafood. Element, which offers fine dining and world-class steaks, won for Mediterranean, New Restaurant and Romantic Restaurant and PBnT: Pizza Burgers .N. Tacos – a family-friendly, fast-casual restaurant serving American comfort foods – took the best Burger win plus a finalist spot for Taco.
PIER 22 Restaurant. Patio. Catering also garnered a number of wins and finalists spots. In a website post executive chef Greg Campbell stated, “Our success is built on a commitment to quality and service that just won’t quit.” He was also sure to thank restaurant guests for supporting PIER 22 with both their votes and their dining reservations.
